A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
