'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and his teammate promptly hammered in the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an extraordinary recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
