Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure said the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
